Here are some of our success stories with clients. The names have been changed for confidentiality.
Maria (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)
I considered myself a fairly healthy person but have always had to be careful with what I eat especially as I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was eighteen.
The symptoms that are associated with this are numerous and can have a significant impact on your physically appearance as well as your self confidence.
Additionally, I wanted to know why it was particularly difficult for me to manage my weight even though I was eating nutritionally balanced meals. My aim was to embark on a nutrition programme where I would consume natural foods and supplements to control my condition, be free of the medication and manage my weight.
As you can imagine I was quite nervous as I had relied on the mediation and other techniques to control the symptoms of PCOS for so long, I was afraid that all the hard work I had endured over the years would be undone.
After completing an initial questionnaire it was liberating to find out that many of the symptoms that I had suffered for a number of years, which I did not necessarily attribute to PCOS, could be eased by small changes to my diet and eating habits.
In the sessions which followed we concentrated on cutting down on the habits which were not serving me and introducing ones which would. Kenny was very supportive at this point ensuring that the decisions I was making were realistic, achievable and that I was fully committed to the change that I wanted to create for myself. Even if I felt I could achieve something substantial, Kenny suggested that I do half to make sure that I achieved it. He was absolutely right; there is a difference sense of achievement, even if its small, feeling that you have accomplished something ignites further motivation.
Within the first few weeks of the programme which Kenny had personally devised for me, I became concerned as I was eating far more than I used to and always felt full. I was afraid that I’d put on weight. Even though this was not my first priority for embarking on the programme, I didn’t want it to become an issue. To my amazement, I’d actually lost 4 pounds in the first couple of weeks without even trying; what a bonus!
My energy levels have also increased significantly and I am free from the back aches I also used to suffer from. My skin and hair condition has also improved and I have recently stopped my medication without the drastic side effects that I was afraid of. I know that this means I have to pay even more attention to eating right food to ensure I get the nutritients that I am naturally defiecint in; but now I know that winning formula, I feel that I have a choice and do not have to succumb to the symptoms of the condition I was born with.
Susan (Low Energy)
Susan, 32, works in the City as a Marketing Adviser and believed she ate a reasonably healthy diet. But over the last two years, her energy levels were letting her down and her workload was increasing.
She came along to Urbod’s Canary Wharf clinic after being recommended by a friend who was very happy with the advice we provided for PMS symptoms. In less than 30 days, and after making some small changes to her diet, Susan was back at the gym with higher energy levels than ever.
